What gets a resort into my list of the top resorts? It is not just the ski runs, the hotels, guides, restaurants and spas. Well, they are obviously all important factors but I think we must always feel at home when we’re on a ski holiday. I don’t want to feel like I’m just another tourist or a faceless guest, I want my ski resorts to be a home away from home where my whole groups is comfortable.

So with our further ado, here are 3 of the best ski resorts I have been fortunate enough to visit:

Whistler, Canada

Whistler is always in the conversation when it comes to the best ski resorts in the world. It seems like an obvious choice but let’s be honest, this place is on top of every skiers bucket list – if it isn’t are you really a skier?! Once people go to Whistler they often don’t go anywhere else because they fall in love with the place – it is not difficult to understand why this resort with over 200 runs, blessed with over 11 meters of snow each year is famous.

Thredbo, Australia

Now I’m sure a lot of you enthusiasts might be surprised that Thredbo in Australia made the top 3 list, well, I can tell you it is a well deserved position. When I was there in Thredbo I think I might have had the best ski holiday of my life. One of the highlights was when on a Saturday night the slope was lit up by both boarders and skiers, they were doing the Flare Run – if you visit make sure you have a fully charged camera because I guarantee you’ll take a lot of pictures. One of the main draws for this Australian ski resort is that it boasts a huge 6 kilometre sun, the largest in the country, it’s an absolute treat to carve it up.

Revelstoke, Canada

I first came to know about Revelstoke because my brother did a season there, he phoned me to tell me if you fancy yourself as a skier you need to test yourself at Revelstoke. Many people don’t like the fact that it’s a real mission to reach the resort but it is well worth the travel. When you arrive you’ll find slopes full of deep powder and it seems there are always record dumps of snow. Luckily I had my brother to guide me on the off piste trails, some of the most testing I have ever done but definitely the most amazing.

Have you been to these resorts or do you think there should be a resort added to the list? I would love to hear all about your stories, experiences and tips. It’s great when we, as a travel community, can share our first hand experiences with others to make sure they make the best choices possible for their holidays.
